The church in DeKalb is a new church plant in DeKalb, IL birthed out of the desire to see both the people of DeKalb and the city itself transformed by the Gospel. Our ambition is to receive what is beautiful here, and, in the power of the Gospel, to redeem and restore what is broken. The church in DeKalb is a confessional and missional church plant affiliated with Redeemer Fellowship Church in St. Charles, IL

A confessional church is one that is united around the truths of the Gospel, and articulates those truths in writing. We find ourselves in general agreement with the historic confessions like The Apostles Creed, The Second London Confession, the Abstract of Principles and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

A missional church is one that recognizes itself as God’s missionary people to those they live among. This means we do not see ourselves merely as those who send missionaries to other countries, but we see ourselves as missionaries in our own communities. As a missional church we are looking for ways to bless the city and the people of DeKalb and we are seeking to be an active part of God’s redemptive work here in our city.

Our vision is to be a church that brings people to new life through the preaching of the Gospel, to become a communtiy by the Gospel, and to do life together for the Gospel.

Oikos is the Ancient Greek word describing a household or family. The church in DeKalb uses the word Oikos as the name for our Community Ministry Arm.

We use the word Oikos because the goal of our Community Ministry Arm is to develop a community in the city of DeKalb that has the closeness of a household or a family as we work to bring people to new life through the Gospel, become a community by the Gospel and do life together for the Gospel.

Oikos Projects are our way of celebrating that God has reconciled us to our culture, as well as to Himself and to His Church. Oikos Project events reflect our desire to see both the people of DeKalb as well as the city itself transformed by and for the Gospel.
